“Momen Lebaran always presents challenges for us as a telecommunications and data operator because traffic always jumps quite significantly,” said Director & Chief Technology Officer of XL Axiata, I Gede Darmayusa, said in remarks in Jakarta, Saturday (30/3/2024).

In addition to soaring, another challenge is moving locations with high traffic to various scattered areas, especially in cities in Java and tourist locations.

Gede added that the increase in traffic in each Lebaran occurs because Indonesians are doing more and more digital activities. Including to meet or fly around on holidays, as well as access to various means of information and entertainment.

He said that traffic has slowly increased by an average of up to five percent during Ramadan compared to traffic on a regular day. XL Axiata predicts traffic will continue to increase by between 10 percent—15 percent when entering during the Lebaran holidays, until the peak can reach about 20 percent.

In addition to increasing capacity, another anticipated step is network optimization by looking at possible mobility movements of people or customers during Lebaran holidays. For this purpose, a number of areas that are usually destinations for homecoming and tourism will be of particular concern, especially in Java.

“The company ensures that most major homecoming lines have been served with 4G LTE quality data networks,” Gede said.
