REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Jakarta--Rais Aam Pengurus Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Miftachul Akhyar asked the NU Muslim cadre to always obey the leader. According to Kiai Miftah, the leader could be a head of state or organization. And although Indonesia is not an Islamic state it remains obliged to respect the president as the leader of the country.

For, says Kiai Miftah, the Messenger of Allah has commanded that he obey his leader. People should listen carefully to what the leader says.

“Therefore whoever honors, God will glorify him. Whoever insults the president, belittles, Allah will avenge him,” Kiai Miftah said during the 78th Harlah Muslimat NU, at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday (20/1/2023).

Kiai Miftah insists that strictness towards its leaders is a characteristic of the people of NU. And Muslims must obey their leaders to affirm the teachings developed by NU.

Women, Kiai Miftah said, are special creatures. For the best man on earth, the Messenger of Allah was born of a woman. All the best people are born of a woman.

On the occasion, Kiai Miftah also reminds of lust. According to Kiai Miftah lust would harm humans if it could not be controlled. They will find it difficult to control their ambitions, and this can be the cause of any confusion and forgetting about themselves.

“On the contrary, the basic origin of obedience is respect either to the head of the government or to one's fellow man because he does not want to be controlled by lust. Lust is the culprit of all obedience,” Kiai Miftah said.

He also alluded to the political path of NU. According to Kiai Miftah the politics of NU is the politics of the da'wah. Therefore, he reminded NU residents to be careful in speaking out so as not to create a disturbance.
