REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Executive Director of Indonesian Political Parameters, Adi Prayitno perceived a signal of closeness between the stronghold of Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD. This is further reinforced by the statement of the two elite carriers of candidate pairs number 1 and 3.
He assessed that there are two things that will allow the camps of Anies and Ganjar to unite in the presidential election (presidential election) 2024. First, there is an equality of fate for the two, which seems to be politically marginalized.
“First, it is not impossible if there are two rounds of these two camps being able to cooperate with each other because they both feel as if they are politically marginalized,” Adi told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday (16/1/2024).
Secondly, it is the political interests in parliament that he considers to be the chances of the two joining forces. Because, the power composition for the Anies and Ganjar strongholds will be a huge strength after the national contest.
If properly realized, the joining of Anies and Ganjar strongholds would be a huge force symbolizing unity. Among them are the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the Party for the Awakening of the Nation (PKB), and the Nasdem Party which is in the top five in parliament.
“If there were two rounds, strongholds 1 and 3, if real it would be a formidable force. Likewise, when they unite in parliament, it will be a great force,” Adi said.
Earlier, Chairman of DPP PDIP, Puan Maharani said that communication with political opponents is a positive thing. Including, her closeness to the Anies-Muhaimin couple after the presidential candidate debate (capres) in Jakarta on January 7, 2024.
“We try to be able to always communicate, to communicate, this contest party is a party of contestants, a party of the people. So we all hope that whoever participates in this contest party can run this democratic party honestly, fairly,” said Puan at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday (14/1/2024).
