REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — There is always wisdom from the shaleh people of yore. They are the ones who spend a lot of time glorifying God's asthma in their daily lives.

One of them is the Prophet David alaihissalam. At one time, David was busy thinking. Then he took the fruit. Inside the fruit are caterpillars. Then the well-known Prophet David asked, why did God created caterpillars?

Apparently, God gave the caterpillar the power to answer the question of the Prophet David. Here is the answer, as it is written in the book of Mukasayafatul Qulub Imam al-Ghazali.

God created the caterpillar so that every day he read the following prayer a thousand times in the morning:

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَامُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْاُمِّيِّ وَ عَلَى اَلِهِ وَ صَحْبِهِ وَ سَلِّم

Allahumma shalli ala sayyidina muhammadin nabiyyil ummi wa ‘ala alihi wa shahbihi wa sallim

May Allah grant peace and tranquility to the Umayyad Prophet Muhammad, as well as to his family and friends.

Then at night the caterpillar recites the following dhikr many times,

سُبْحَانَ الله وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّه وَ لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا الله وَ اللهُ اَكْبَر

Subhanallah, wal hamdulillah, wa laa ilaaha illa Allah, wallahu akbarPraise be to Allah, all praise be to Allah, there is no God but Allah, the Mighty of Allah.

The wisdom behind the story

There is no futility behind all of God's creation. There must be wisdom, as explained by Allah in Surah

Ali Imran 190-191

إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ لَءَايَٰتٍ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ

inna fī khalqis-samāwāti wal-arḍi wakhtilāfil-laili wan-nahāri la`āyātil li`ulil-albāb

Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in their alternation of night and day, there are signs for the wise.
