Indonesia Tourism Minister Offers Investment at Special Area to UAE Businessmen

One offered to UAE businesspeople is an investment-ready project in Bali.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno offered investment in eight special economic areas (EECs) or Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus (KEK) of the tourism sector to the Chairman of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Entrepreneurship Team and Educators Economic Zone Development, Family Business Sustainability, and Alzarooni Fair Education.

KEK offered includes Mandalika, Central Lombok, NTB; Tanjung Kelayang, Belitung, Babel; Likupang, Minahasa Utara, Sulut; Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang, Banten; Nongsa, Batam, Kepri; Lido, Bogor, Jabar; Singhasari, Malang, Jatim; and Morotai, North Maluku. Investments are also offered in five super priority destinations, namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, Likupang, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo.

“During the meeting, we also offered Dr Adil Alzarooni to invest in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), including ready to offer investment projects (IPRO) in Aceh and Bali,” Sandiaga said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday (6/1/2024).

The investment offer was submitted considering that the number of tourist visits from the UAE to Indonesia continues to increase. Referring data on the realization of tourism sector investments from the UAE to Indonesia in 2023 amounted to 3.1 million US dollars. The number delivered by Sandiaga rose by 429 percent compared to 2022.

“What Indonesia needs is not only investment, but also creating a good investment ecosystem, especially with private parties. Therefore, we continue to encourage the involvement of private parties through public private partnerships (PPP) in accelerating development,” he said.

Sandiaga hopes that with the influx of investors it can encourage the acceleration of development and open employment to the widest possible extent.

The investment offer submitted by Menparekraf was also welcomed by Adil. The man, who has more than 20 years of experience in executive management, investment, sales, logistics, IT security, and economic zone development, is also excited to come to Indonesia.

“This offer is very exciting, and I can't wait for it to materialize soon,” Adil said.
