REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA— Smoking is a path to dangerous diseases. All this time there are people asking, what is the relationship of smoking with preventive medicine.
Does smoking enter in the intoxicating or debilitating things that Islam forbids?
Sheikh Abdul Mun'im Qindil in his book At-Tadawi bi Alquran explains, read the Quran carefully and thoroughly. What do you understand from the words of God in An-Nisa verse 29: “Do not kill yourself, for Allah is the Most Merciful to you.”
Smoking it is also part of the extravagance. It is according to the letter of Al-Isra verse 27, Allah SWT says: “Truly the wasteful wastes are the brother of Satan and the devil He is very unfaithful to his Lord.”
Then what do you understand from the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that forbids any intoxicating and debilitating things? How is the understanding of the Prophet Muhammad that reads.
“Whoever eats garlic or red (raw) should stay away from our mosque and sit in his house.” (Bukhari and Muslim).
Also the words of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) about what angels feel when they see people who hurt themselves. He said, “Angels are pained by what hurts men.”
Sheikh Abdul Mun'im said that when we see the dangers of smoking, we find a strong connection with the verses and hadiths of the Messenger of Allah. God forbids us to kill ourselves.
“The tobacco in it contains nicotine which can scientifically accelerate human death rather than rat poison,” he said.
God forbid us to be wasteful. Tobacco cigarettes exude useful treasures for smoking that are sometimes a fundamental necessity in life.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told people who eat garlic or red onion to stay away from the mosque so that the smell of the mouth does not disturb the healthy person.
“There is no doubt that cigarette smoke has an unpleasant odor and hurts man as angels also feel his pain,” he said.
The following are the conditions about the dangers of cigarettes. Some scholars have agreed that smoking is immoral, and to continue to do macros is illegitimate.
The scholars base their fatwas on the precepts and leaned on the Koran and the Sunnah so the doctors had scientific experiments addressing the sinister dangers of smoking.
