REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- When visiting the sick, take the time to pray for them to be cured. From the Prophet Muhammad, there is a recitation of prayer when visiting the sick so that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will relieve him of his illness.

When visiting the sick, Muslims are encouraged to pray for them. There is a prayer recommended by the Prophet, and when read, with God's permission, the person's illness can be cured.

Here is a prayer for the sick to be relieved of their illness:

أَسْأَلُ اللهَ الْعَظِيْمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

As-alullaahal ‘adhim robbal ‘arsyil ‘adhim an-yasyfiyak.

“I plead with Allah Almighty, Owner of the great 'Arsy, to heal you,” it read seven times.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) that he said,

مَن عاد مريضًا لم يحضُرْه أجَلُه فقال عندَه سَبْعَ مرَار: أسأَلُ اللهَ العظيمَ ربَّ العَرْشِ العظيمِ أن يَشفِيَك، إلا عافاه اللهُ مِن ذلكَ المرَضِ

“Whoever visits a sick person who is not yet near his death, and reads a prayer by his side, 'I plead with Allah Almighty, the Owner of the 'great Arsa, to heal you, 'seven times, but Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will deliver him from the disease. (H.R. Abu Dawud: 3106).
