REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- When dreaming well, Muslims are suggested to thank Allah for the coming of the dream.

As quoted from the book of Sunnah and Daily Dizikir of the Prophet Shallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, whoever has a good dream is permitted to do the following:

First, thank God for the dream, because the good dream comes from God.

Second: Tell the dream to others, but only to the loved ones around him.

It is narrated, from Abu Salamah Radhiyallahu Anhu, that he said, “I just had a bad dream, until the dream made my chest feel very tight. Then I met Abu Qatadah and told him about my situation, and he said, “I had a bad dream too, until the dream made my chest feel tight, until I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say,

“The good dream comes from God. If one of you dreams of something he likes, do not tell the dream except to the one he loves. However, if he dreams of something he does not like, let him spit a little to his left side three times, and ask Allah for protection (berta'awudz) from the evil of the devil and the evil of the dream, and Do not tell the dream to anyone (without exception), for the dream will not harm him.“

Abu Salamah said, “I even had a nightmare that I thought was heavier than a mountain. But I no longer care about any nightmares after I heard this hadith. “(HR. Bukhari no.5747, and Muslim no.2261)

Another story says, “A good dream comes from God, while a bad dream comes from Satan. Therefore, if one of you has a nightmare that frightens him, then he should spit a little to his left side, and then ask God for protection of Pa from the evil of the dream, for (by berta'awudz) the dream will not harm him. “(HR. Bukhari no.3292, and Muslim no.2261)

In another hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari, from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu Anhu, it is mentioned “If one of you gets a dream that you like, it comes from Allah, therefore thank Allah for the dream. “(HR. Bukhari no.7045)
