REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The U-17 World Cup trophy was exhibited at the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area, Jakarta, Sunday, to attract people's interest to participate in supporting the prestigious youth football tournament. Chairman of the All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir said the trophy exhibition was done as a picture of Indonesia's readiness as host 26 days before the U-17 World Cup.
“It's 26 days before the U-17 World Cup, thank God (Indonesia as host) are ready. That's why we have a trophy tour in Jakarta, Solo, Bandung, Surabaya,” Erick said in between the trophy parade during a motorcycle-free day in Jakarta
The World Cup trophy exhibition was opened by Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono. The exhibition of the U-17 World Cup trophy was held in strategic areas such as the HI Roundabout as an effort by PSSI to arouse the enthusiasm and interest of the citizens of the capital to participate in watching the games later.
At the exhibition, people were given the opportunity to experience a precious moment approaching the U-17 World Cup trophy and take a selfie with it. “I as a committee have a high commitment to pushing FIFA's target of at least 10,000 average spectators per game,” Erick said.
TheU-17 World Cup trophy exhibition will take place in four host cities, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Solo. From the capital, the trophy will go to Bandung on October 22, 2023, Surabaya on October 29, 2023, then Solo on November 5, 2023.
He added that as many as 70 FIFA representatives have now come to Indonesia to help prepare for the U-17 World Cup. The 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held on 10 November-2 December 2023 at four stadiums namely Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium (SJH), Bandung Regency, Manahan Solo Stadium, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) Surabaya.
