REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned four suspects in a bribery case related to the ratification of the Draft Regional Budget (RAPBD) of Jambi Province for the Fiscal Year 2017 and 2018. The four suspects were Chairman of the Regional Legislative Assembly (DPRD) Cornelis Buston (CB), Deputy Chairperson of the AR Syahbandar DPRD (ARS), Deputy Chairperson of the DPRD Chumaidi Zaidi (CZ), and Parlagutan Nasution (PN), who are leaders of the United Development Party (PPP) Faction.

"Today, four suspects are scheduled to be examined in a bribery case related to the ratification of the Draft Regional Budget (RAPBD) of Jambi Province for the Fiscal Year 2017 and 2018," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah stated when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

The KPK, on December 28, 2018, had announced 13 suspects comprising elements of the DPRD leadership, leaders of the Faction, DPRD members, and the private sector in the development of the bribery case. The 13 suspects comprised three elements of the Jambi Provincial DPRD leadership, who were named as suspects, specifically Chairman of the DPRD Cornelis Buston (CB), Deputy Chairperson of the AR Syahbandar DPRD (ARS), and Deputy Chairperson of the Chumaidi Zaidi DPRD (CZ).

Furthermore, five faction leaders were Sufardi Nurzain (SNZ) from the Golkar Faction, Cekman (C) from the Conscience Restoration Faction, Tadjudin Hasan (TH) from the PKB Faction, Parlagutan Nasution from the PPP Faction, and Muhammadiyah (M) from the Gerindra Faction. A commission leader -- Zainal Abidin (ZA) as chair of Commission III -- was also named suspect.

Three members of the Jambi Provincial DPRD were Elhelwi (E), Gusrizal (G), and Effendi Hatta (EH). Jeo Fandy Yoesman, alias Asiang (JFY), from the private sector was also named a suspect.

The KPK had earlier processed five people as suspects until convicted in the Corruption Court, with the first being Regional Assistant 3 of Jambi Province Saipudin based on a High Court decision of three years sentence and a fine of Rp100 million, with subsidiary imprisonment of three months.

The second was Acting Regional Secretary of the Jambi Provincial Government Erwan Malik, who was awarded a criminal sentence by the High Court of three years and six months and a fine of Rp100 million, with subsidiary imprisonment of three months.

The third was Acting Head of the Arfan PUPR Service, for whom the High Court had announced a three-year criminal sentence and Rp100 million fine, with subsidiary imprisonment of three months.

The fourth was member of the Jambi Provincial DPRD Supriyono, who were announced a District Court verdict of six years' imprisonment, a fine of Rp400 million, and revocation of rights to be elected to public office for five years since the defendant finished serving his main sentence.

Finally, Jambi Governor for 2016-2021 period Zumi Zola was announced a District Court verdict of six years' criminal sentence, a fine of Rp500 million, and revocation of the right to be elected to public office for five years since the defendant completed serving his main sentence.
