REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CILEGON -- Data submitted during the 2019 Presidential Election debate was in accordance with the ministry's data, according to Presidential Candidate Number 01 Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The incumbent president said that in response to questions by the media on the differences in data in several fields.
"We are delivering data from the ministry; not my own essay," Jokowi explained during the meeting in Pandeglang District, Banten, on Monday.
According to Jokowi, data from the Ministry of Agriculture regarding corn imports was recorded at 180 thousand tons. He also remarked that the Ministry of Commerce recorded the same data at 180 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that corn imports in 2018 had reached 737.22 thousand tons.
"Just try checking it. It could be a quota, but it is not realized," Jokowi stated.
Moreover, speaking in connection with forest fires, Jokowi pointed to a drastic decline in a period in three years.
"It (the number of forest fires) dropped dramatically, down 85 percent more. This means right now, there is no such thing as a plane that can't go down, it can't get rich first. Complaints in the province about smoke also do not exist," the former DKI Jakarta governor stated.
He added that several neighboring countries, such as Singapore and Malaysia, also did not complain about the smoke disaster.
The presidential candidate number 01 has debated with the presidential candidate 02 Prabowo Subianto. The debate, held at the Sultan Hotel on Sunday night (Feb 17), raised the theme of energy, food, infrastructure, natural resources, and the environment.
