REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The police have called on families of the victims of the crashed Lion Air plane to report and bring along necessary documents for identification to the Said Sukanto Police Hospital in Jakarta. Indonesian Police's Director for Disaster Victim Identification Sen. Com Pol. Lisda Cancer stated that in a short message here on Monday.
From the data required for identification are fingerprints that can be obtained from certificates, tooth prints from the victims' dentists, and information on the victims' clothing. She has also called on the victims' parents or children to visit the hospital for DNA matching.
Lion Air's JT610 aircraft, carrying 189 people aboard, crashed in the waters of Karawang in West Java on Monday. The aircraft took off from the Soekarno Hatta Airport in Jakarta at 6:10 a.m. local time and was en route to Pangkalpinang, but it lost contact at 6:33 a.m. local time.

The ill-fated aircraft had requested to return to base before it disappeared from the radar. The aircraft carried 178 adult passengers, three infants, and seven crew members as well as two pilots. Five cabin crews, three flight attendants on training and a technician also on board.
Meanwhile, Erzaldi Rosman Djohan, Bangka Belitung Governor had asked airport staff to collect data on the families of the victims, then two people from the family representatives will be departed for Jakarta.
"Two people from family representatives will be sent to Jakarta because the emergency post is at Soekarno Hatta Airport," told the press.
The Indonesian authorities have set up an emergency command post at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, to deal with the accident.
