Meikarta project bribery case, KPK searches 12 locations

KPK has also examined 33 witnesses in Meikarta project bribery case.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched 12 locations in Bekasi and Tangerang, related to bribery case concerning the issuance of property permits for the modern city of Meikarta, Lippo Group’s flagship project. The anti-graft institution has also examined 33 witnesses.

According to KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah, on last Oct 22, investigators cross-examined eight suspects as witnesses to other suspects. Then since Oct 23 until today, as many as 29 witnesses from officials in Bekasi Regency and Lippo Group staff were examined.

“From a number of witnesses who have been scheduled for examination, there are four people can’t attend, so for them the examination will be rescheduled,” said Febri on Friday (Oct 26).

In addition, Febri said investigators sent summon letter to Lippo Group CEO James Riady. He was scheduled to be examined in the end of this month.

The series of examinations carried out to explore a number of crucial things. First, the flow and Meikarta licensing process from the perspective of rules and procedures in the Bekasi Regency Government.

Then, recommendation process step 1 from West Java Provincial Government to Bekasi Regency Government, related to Meikarta licensing process. Investigators also explore the internal flow and processes at Lippo Group related to Meikarta's permits.

"Investigators also traced the funding sources of alleged bribery to Bekasi Regent and friends. In addition, KPK also explored whether there is corporate action in the case or not,” Febri explained.

So far, KPK has named at least nine suspects in Meikarta project permits bribery case. They are  an executive of diversified conglomerate Lippo Group Billy Sindoro,  Bekasi Regent Neneng Hassanah Yasin, Lippo Group consultans named Taryudi and Fitra Djaja Purnama, also the group employee named Henry Jasmen. Then, Administration’s Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Agency head Jamaludin, Investment Service and Integrated Licensing Services head Dewi Tisnawati, Fire Departement head Sahat Maju Banjar Nahor, and Bekasi regency PUPR Agency’s spatial planning division head Neneng Rahmi as suspects.

Billy, Taryadi, Fitra, and Henry Jasmen as bribe givers are suspected violated Article 5 paragraph 1 letter a or letter b or article 13 Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication Corruption, also Article 64 paragraph (1) Criminal Code (KUHP). Meanwhile, Neneng, Jamaludin, Sahat, Dewi as bribe receivers Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 11 Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication Corruption. Meanwhile, Eni is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 11 Law No. 31/1999 as amended by Law No. 20/2001 on Eradication Corruption, also Article 64 paragraph (1) Criminal Code.
