Jokowi meets Vietnamese PM on sidelines of IMF-WB meeting

Earlier, Jokowi meets with Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank (WB) Annual Meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali. The meeting was held following a speech by Jokowi at the Plenary Session of the IMF-WB Annual Meeting in Bali, on Friday.

The meeting was held at the same venue as the Plenary Session of the IMF-WB Annual Meeting. Before the meeting, both leaders held a photo session and joint press conference.

President Jokowi noted that the bilateral meeting was held a month after he and Nguyen Xuan Phuc had met in Hanoi.

"It represents the high intensity of bilateral relations based on the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam," President Jokowi remarked.

"I express my gratitude to the Vietnamese PM for the support given to Indonesian investors in Vietnam," Jokowi emphasized.

President Jokowi also handed over a photo book to the prime minister containing pictures of both leaders during their earlier meeting. The Vietnamese prime minister appeared happy and smiled while accepting the present. Both leaders then shook hands following the press conference.
