REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- The first international aid, transported by C-130 Hercules aircraft, arrived in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The plane, which carried aid from Singapore, landed at Mutiara Sis Al Jufri Airport in Palu on Wednesday at around 14:30 local time.
"I think some of international aid has been sent, but this is the first international aid that arrived directly in Palu," a source from the Indonesian Air Force stated here on Wednesday.
The aid from Singapore consisted of tents, blankets, emergency lamps, foods, and medical devices. Tents, blankets, and emergency lamps were unloaded from the plane, while foods and medical equipment remained on the plane.
"This is because these items have red ribbons from the customs, meaning that they cannot immediately leave the airport," the source noted.
Meanwhile, a source from the Singapore Air Force remarked that the aid, weighing around 10 tons, was from the Singaporean government.
Earlier, on Sept 28 afternoon local time, a 7.4-magnitude quake shook Palu and triggered tsunami along the coast of Donggala. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) mentioned that so far, the death toll was 1,407, while 2,549 people suffered serious injuries.
