Jack Ma introduces Hangzhou in closing ceremony Asian Games

The 19th Asian Games is expected to be held in Hangzou, China, in 2022.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chinese billionaire Jack Ma introduced his birth city, Hangzhou, as the city that will host the 2022 Asian Games, in the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games in the Bung Karno Sports Complex Main Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday. Ma donned a silver-grey traditional costume originating from Hangzhou, China, accompanied by a girl in a red costume, as well as a group of dancers and singers, exhibiting art and culture show.

"Hangzhou is my beautiful city where I was born," he said, which immediately received enthusiastic cheers from the audience.

Jack Ma attended the ceremony as a representative from China, which has been chosen to host the 2022 Asian Games. Before Ma appeared on stage, performers from China showcased traditional dance and music, wrapped in a contemporary delivery in the closing ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games in the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex Main Stadium in Jakarta, Sunday.

The show began with a little girl singing a song while sitting in the middle of a lotus flower. With assistance from 3-Dimensional technology, the girl and the lotus flower appeared to be floating from afar.

Not long after that, dancers in traditional dresses appeared. The dance showed a reflection of the natural beauty of Hangzhou City, China.

After the dance session ended, Jack Ma arrived and introduced his hometown, Hangzhou, which is the location of the 2022 Asian Games. The billionaire from Mainland China, who is listed as one of the 10 richest people by Forbes Magazine, arrived in Indonesia since Friday.

He had a chance to watch the 2018 Asian Games Women's Football final in the Jakabaring Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, Palembang, South Sumatra.
