REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said all prospective hajj pilgrims should be grateful because they have the chance to be guests of Allah SWT. He said that while seeing off the would-be hajj pilgrims from Surabaya embarkation at Haji Sukolilo Dormitory, in Surabaya, East Java on Tuesday (July 17).
Lukman explained the prospective hajj pilgrims have two ways to express gratitude for the extraordinary opportunity. Firstly, by continuing to learn all the guidelines, references and manuals of hajj. By doing so, they could perform worship to the maximum.
“Prospective hajj pilgrims should understand all the guides of hajj rituals, so that conditions and pillars of hajj can be performed properly and spiritual worship can be maximised,” said Lukman.

Secondly, would-be hajj pilgrims could show their gratitude by maintaining their physical endurance. Thus, Lukman reminded that hajj pilgrimage is a worship that requires physical endurance. Healthy lifestyles, including maintaining dietary intake, should be properly considered.
“Put all our activities on a proportional level. Don’t get to busy pursuing sunnah worship, but then unable to complete the pillars and conditions of hajj properly," Lukman explained.
The first prospective hajj pilgrims group from Surabaya embarkation originated from Situbondo district. The total number of would-be pilgrims in this first team was as many as 450 people.
