REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- The 2018 Asian Games organizing committee will sell tickets online to people to register their personal data for security reasons. It was also considering selling tickets directly to the public at the game venues, the vice-director for promotion "Look of the Game and City Beatification" of the Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organising Committee (INASGOC), Nirmala Dewi, said here on Friday.

"There will be an Asian Games special ticket operator to manage sales in accordance with the standard set by the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia). About the quota and the rules, we will announce it after the entry by number (list of athletes and officials) reaches the committee," she said.

The most important thing now was to familiarise the public with the plan to sell tickets online, she said.

"The public should know the Asian Games are different from the SEA Games. The level of the Asian Games is just one step below the Olympics. Therefore, the events at the Asian Games will have higher value; so we need to put a ticketing system in place," she said.

On the other hand, Indonesia hopes travel advisories produced by among others by Britain, the US, Singapore, and Australia, following recent terror attacks in the country, will not affect the 18th Asian Games. The event to be held in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.

"We hope with the support from all the people of Indonesia and anticipatory and mitigation measures that are taken by the army (TNI) and the police, as well as ministries and state institutions, the travel advisories will not be extended," Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Puan Maharani, stated after a coordination meeting on Asian Games security with a number of ministers and representatives from ministries and state institutions here, on Thursday (May 17).

She noted that travel advisories were produced as an implementation of responsibility of countries for their citizens in Indonesia or who are going to go to the country. "We have asked the fourth deputy for security of the Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (Inasgoc) to coordinate with TNI and police as well as ministries and state institutions," she remarked.

Maharani appealed to the community and mass media to arouse the spirit of optimism with regard to the country's readiness to stage the event. "In line with the agreement made between Indonesia and the Olympic Council of Asia in the latest coordination meeting, we have been ready to hold the Asian Games," she remarked.
