Maintain security ahead of Asian Games: Alex Noerdin

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin on Monday has called on all public elements in the province to continue to maintain security. He reminded that the province to host the international sporting event of Asian Games in August 2018.

He said it is important to maintain the security so that the international sporting event can run successfully for the good image of the state and the region.

To popularize and promote the Asian Games, the people of South Sumatra have organized a parade, participated in by thousands of people from community members, school students, civil servants, army and police members, and other elements.

Participants wore various kinds of costumes to highlight the four-yearly event scheduled from August 18 to September 2, 2018.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called for promotion of the Asian Games. Therefore, it is hoped that through the parade, people would really feel being the host of the event.

Thirteen sport branches are scheduled to be hosted by Palembang, and preparations have been intensively carried out to meet them, including finishing a number of venues as well as a Light Rail Transit transportation system.
