Govt ensures quality of Jakarta-Bandung high speed train

Chinese govt and delegation observe construction of high-speed railway projects.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government wants the construction of the high-speed train, connecting the cities of Jakarta and Bandung, to be of high quality. State Enterprise Minister, Rini Soemarno said Indonesian and Chinese governments always ensure the best in terms of quality for the construction of the fast train.

The minister and the President of China Railway Corporation (CRC), Lu Dongfu, visited the inlet tunnel project construction located in Halim area of East Jakarta. The 1,830-meter tunnel inlet is one of the critical points out of a total of 16,375-meter tunnel that will be constructed in 26 months. This visit by the government officer reflects the support for the construction of several national strategic projects in Indonesia.

The delegation and government will observe the current construction of the high-speed railway projects in several sites.

The Indonesian laborers are assisted by several Chinese skilled workers during the construction of the Tunnel 1, in order to learn the technology that is being used during the project.

The land clearing for railways construction has reached 64.2 percent and will be completed immediately, as Indonesia and China have agreed on the acceleration of the construction.

"The construction shows good progress. We hope the project will create many benefits for the public," Soemarno revealed on Wednesday.

The government will observe the development of a batching plant, laboratory, and a base camp in Walini area of West java Province. The developer will construct 608 meters of Walini tunnel in Purwakarta region.
