West Nusa Tenggara continues to lure foreign tourists

West Nusa Tenggara targets four million tourists visit in 2019.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) tourism sector, especially in Lombok has became world travellers favourite destination in recent years. Many people interested with Lombok that offers a number of tourist destinations, which are not less interesting than the neighbour province, Bali.

The tourist destinations, started from underwater beauty, green cluster of hills, white sand in Special Economic Zone (KEK) Mandalika, also three exotic islets (gili) in North Lombok, and the panorama of Mount Rinjani are offered. In addition, Lombok also has a wealth cultures hunted by the world travellers, including the spicy yet tasteful culinary.

West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Office head, Muhammad Faozal said the development of tourism sector in the province was not done in an instant. He admitted it began when M Zainul Majdi or usually called Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) served as West Nusa Tenggara Governor in 2008.

Faozal said many efforts made in advancing the tourism sector. It started from regulation, promotion, and also the strengthening of destinations. As the result, tourist visit to West Nusa Tenggara continued to increase significantly.

West Nusa Tenggara Tourism Office recorded the number of tourist visits in 2008 was only 500 thousand people. However, in 2017 the number swelled to 3.5 million tourists.

"We have target in next year, four million tourists to visit West Nusa Tenggara," said Faozal on Tuesday (March 20).

Faozal explained the advance of tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara has positive impact to society. Also to industry actors, creative economy actors, and widely to many people in Indonesia.

"For the tourism industry actors, the presence of creative industry provides the welfare of the community," Faozal added
