REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Habib Rizieq Shihab ordered the new committee of the National Movement to Safeguard Fatwa of the Ulamas (GNPF Ulama) to fight circulation of false news in accordance with Islamic teachings. He stressed that Islamic teachings are against hoax.

"Never combat a lie with a lie. Do not fight hoax with hoax," the movement's chariman of the Board of Trustees said in a voice recorded statement played during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Habib Rizieq said GNPF Ulama is an anti-hoax organization. The movement upholded Islamic teachings. "We struggle by following Islamic teaching that forbid hoaxs, lies, slanders to divide the Muslims," he explained.

GNPF Ulama members are urged to stick to the principle against the falsehood with the right. Lies should be dealt with telling the truth. "We must fight against false news and slanders with real facts," he said.

GNPF Ulama has reorganized its committee by replacing ustaz Bachtiar Nasir with ustaz Yusuf Martak. Meanwhile, its general secretary, Munarman, is replaced by Muhammad Al Khaththath.

Habib Rizieq said GNPF Ulama is still solid. The reorganization was done for the sake of the movement's performance. 

Earlier, ustaz Yusuf explained the reorganization was done merely to maximize the GNPF Ulama's performance. The new committee was mandated to work in a one to two years term.

Ustaz Bachtiar has been appointed as member of GNPF Ulama's Board of Trustees. The members of GNPF Ulama understood ustaz Bachtiar has a tight schedule. "We still need ustaz Bachtiar's figure, we do not want to lose him in the organization," ustaz Yusuf said.
