REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Three doctors have decided to miss the summon from Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to testify for suspect Bimanesh Sutarjo, an internist of private hospital Medika Permata Hijau, on Wednesday. KPK said, Professor Zubairi Djoerban who chairs the Indonesian Medical Association - Advisory Council, Professor Budi Sampoerna and doctor Prasetyono who represent forensic doctors of University of Indonesia were proposed by Bimanesh as witnesses.
The examination on the three doctors in the alleged obstruction of justice case by Bimanesh was held as regulated by Criminal Code. "Nevertheless, the three doctors refused to testify in order to keep their independency," spokesperson of KPK, Febri Diansyah said in a text message to Republika.co.id, on Wednesday.
Febri said, the doctors wanted to keep their independency because they are part of the Indonesian Medical Association team who investigate whether Bimanesh has conducted any medical ethics violations.
