REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was still waiting for progress of Novel Baswedan's strong acid attack case. So far, the two people who allegedly attacked Novel Baswedan have not been found while Jakarta Police has announced sketches of the assailants.
"After Jakarta Police and the handling team came and explained the progress of the investigation some time ago, KPK is waiting the search progress of two people whose their face sketches have been announced," said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah on Wednesday (December 27).
Febri said, KPK expected the perpetrators of Novel's acid attack case can be found immediately. Also, all the process of the case can be immediately revealed.
"We hope terror, threats, and attacks against those who eradicate corruption do not happen again in the future," he added.
Novel was attacked in April when two unidentified men splashed strong acid on the KPK senior investigator's face and injuring his face and eyes. In an interview with Time, he claimed had received information that a police general or a high-level police official was involved in the attack on him.
As one of the KPK's top investigator, Novel has led investigations of several high-profile cases, including the ongoing e-ID embezzlement case that has implicated several lawmakers and high-ranking government officials.
Novel underwent surgeries for two times. One of the surgeries was to add membrane to his left eye or replanting the gum part on his left eye in Singapore.
