10 projects from Ahok's era run without traffic's Amdal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of Jakarta Transportation Department, Sigit Widjatmoke confirmed there were 10 infrastructure projects in capital city that did not have environmental impact analysis (Amdal) on traffic problem. Those 10 projects derivatived from Basuki Tjahaja Purnama's (Ahok) tenure.

The projects have caused severe traffic jams at many streets.

Sigit said, 10 projects include the construction of Pancoran, Cipinang Lontar, and Bintaro flyover. In addition, Mampang-Kuningan, Kartini, and Matraman underpass also have worsen the traffic.

Severe congestion also occured at the LRT projects at Cawang - Dukuh Atas, six inner-city toll roads Sunter-Pulo Gebang corridor. The same impact created by the constructions of Depok - Antasari and Bekasi, Cawang, Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road.

"Only Velodrome-Kelapa Gading LRT project that has Amdal of on traffic recommendation," Sigit added.

Earlier, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said there were 10 ongoing infrastructure projects that did not have Amdal on traffic. He assessed, it already caused unusual and heavy traffic, that never been anticipated.

According to Anies, public are helpless with the condition. He noticed, sometimes it caused loss for many people.

"It had caused the inconvenience that we are experiencing. Not to mentioned for police officers and staffs of Transportation Departements who suffered from this complexity. We cannot tolerate it any more," Anies added.
