REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The police have found skeletal remains at the PT Panca Buana Cahaya Sukses fireworks factory in Kosambi, Tangerang, which caught fire last week, resulting in at least 49 deaths and injuries to 46 others.
The police's Disaster Victim Investigation team had resumed its crime scene investigation on Monday to trace the whereabouts of a welder at the factory Ega Subarna, who was named a suspect in the incident.
"The bones were found at the crime scene, which was the welding room (at the factory) and allegedly a source of the fire," Tangerang Police Chief Senior Commissioner Harry Kurniawan noted here, Tuesday.
The police have handed over the skeletal remains to the forensics team to confirm whether they were of Ega.
"We will check them further to confirm whether they were of Ega Subarna. We need more details," he remarked.
Ega was not found among the dead victims of the fire.
Jakarta Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono remarked that the three suspects are the factory's owner Indra Liyono, Director of Operations Andria Hartanto, and welder Ega.
Liyono will be charged under article 359 of the Criminal Code on negligence resulting in death and article 183 of Law No. 13 of 2003 on labor.
Hartanto and Ega will be charged under article 359 of the Criminal Code on negligence resulting in death and article 188 of the Criminal Code on negligence that caused the fire.
The police have arrested Hartanto and Liyono.
