REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, Gen. Gatot Nurmayanto said he did not have a plan to travel to the United States in the near future. He explained, so far he has no agenda yet. 

He stated that after giving a briefing to 5,000 army and police personnel at Karebosi Square, Makassar on Wednesday (Oct 25).

"No agenda yet. Moreover, the event that I have to attend has ended today," Gatot remarked regarding the Chiefs of Defense Conference on Country Violent Extremist Organization held in Washington DC on Monday (Oct 23) to Tuesday (Oct 24).

Gatot has received an apology letter from US Commander General Joseph F. Durford Jr, following a restriction against him, his wife and staffs to enter US territory that he experienced on Oct 21.

Durford who invited him to the conference asked him to come. However, Gatot said he must wait for president instruction, whether must go back to US or not.

"Yes, he (Dunford) has has sent me an letter of apology and invited again, but I say to him that I will go there as commander of the presidential envoy so I must wait for the further instruction," Gatot explained.

According to Gatot, he took President Joko Widodo's directive by not to going there. 

US Embassy explained the incident happened due to an administrative error. 

"We have taken the right approach to prevent this matter from occurring again. There is no restriction on the General's or his wife's travel, and we welcome them to US," US Embassy stated on its official website, Wednesday (Oct 25).

Gatot, his wife, and Indonesia's delegations were about to fly to US to attend a conference under the invitation of US Commander Joseph Dunford Jr in Washington DC. He was scheduled to depart on Saturday (Oct 21) at 5 pm on Emirates flight number EK 0357.

Just before taking off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Gatot was informed he could not be able to enter US. He said to have been notified of the restriction by Emirates' authorities.
