REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Health Office on Monday held a meeting with Mitra Keluarga Hospital Kalideres authority related to the death of a four months old baby named Tiara Debora.
It stated that there was a miscommunication between the two parties when the baby has to get treatment in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
"There are no errors or delays in medical treatment, but there is a miscommunication between the patient parents and the hospital," said Head of Jakarta Health Office, Koesmedi Priharto, in Jakarta.
Doctor and medical team in Mitra Keluarga Hospital Kalideres treated the patient in accordance with the procedure at Emergency Department (IGD), he explained. However, such misunderstandings occurred when the baby will be treated in the PICU room.
In addition to misunderstanding, he said, there was also negligence made by the hospital. The hospital was asking the patient to seek other hospitals for treatment, instead of helping the patient to find it.

Meanwhile, Director of Mitra Keluarga Hospital Kalideres Fransisca Dewi said before undergoing treatment in PICU room, the patient's family must deposit a fee of Rp19 million. "Before entering the PICU room, there should be communication with the patient's family about the cost of treatment," said Fransisca.
If the patient's family disagree, then the patient must be moved to another hospital whose in cooperation with the Social Security Health Agency (BPJS Kesehatan), she added.
Tiara Debora is Rudianto Simanjorang and Henny Silalahi's daughter. The four months old baby suffered difficutly to breathe and rushed to Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Kalideres, West Jakarta, in September 3.
The baby was given treatment in Emergency Room, but doctor suggested her to be treated in PICU. Due to the high cost of treatment in PICU, her family decided to find another hospital. However, Debora has passed away even before undergo treatment in new hospital.
