REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- Construction of the Palembang Light Rail Transit (LRT) project is expected to be finished in October this year.
Now the process of installing the elevated rail track already reached 2.5 kilometers and the work should be completed soon, Provincial administration secretary Nasrun Umar said here on Monday.
Based on a report of the contractor of the project state-owned construction company Waskita Karya to Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi during his recent visit here, work has been progressing as scheduled.

The LRT project is built ahead of the Asian Games in 2018 to cope with congestion and traffic jams especially during busy hours in the city, Nasrun said.
The LRT would facilitate the transport of thousands of athletes from all over Asia to take part in the largest Asian sports event.
Palembang and Jakarta will co-host the next Asian Games next year.
