REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- Two suspected terrorists recently arrested in Jambi Province were flown to Jakarta for further questioning at the National Police Headquarters, the police stated.
Before being flown to Jakarta on Monday, they were questioned at the Mobile Brigade station in Jambi, Chief of the Jambi Provincial Police Brigadier General Priyo Widiyanto stated here on Tuesday.
Based on the preliminary results of questioning, they are allegedly affiliated with the Jamaah Anshor Khilafah terror network, he revealed.
The two terror suspects, who were arrested by the National Polices Densus 88 counterterrorism squad at Kasang Pundak Village, Kecamatan Kumpeh Ulu Sub-district, Muarojambi District, Jambi Province, a few days ago, had once taken part in training in the neighboring Riau Province.
Chief of the Public Information Section of the National Police Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul noted that the two terror suspects, identified by their initials as SL aged 38 and RH aged 39, were allegedly involved in sending several people to join a militant group affiliated with the Islamic State in Marawi, Southern Philippines.
One of the terror suspects was also involved in the production of explosives, he added.
