REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- A Chinese company is seeking a license to build an electric motorcycles assembling plant with an investment of Rp50 billion in Batam.
"After the operation, the company will exports its motorcycle product with an exports target of US$7.5 million a year, Deputy for General Service of the Batam Management Body (BP Batam) Gusmardi Bustami said.
The company will soon start process of production in the Industrial Estate of Century Park employing 50 local workers, Bustami said here on Saturday.
He said in the past several days a number of companies already utilized the simplification of licensing procedure to invest in Batam.
On Wednesday, a German company, PT Mitech Arenis International (MAI) invested Rp130 billion in the Batam Freeport and Trade Zone to produce machines of power generating plants using garbage fuel.
Part of its production is to be exported to other ASEAN countries, Bustami said, adding the company would employ 100 local workers.
Batam has attracted more investors after it simplifies licensing procedure . Currently an investor need only not more than 3 hours to wait for their business license ready. Normally it took days , months or even years.
