REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANTUL -- The Bantul District Office of Agriculture, Food, Marine, and Fisheries in the Yogyakarta Special Region will develop a salt processing and production center, according to the office chief Pulung Haryadi.

"Following the current state of scarcity of salt and its soaring prices, we are now planning to develop a salt processing and production center along the south coast area," Haryadi remarked here on Thursday.

He said the salt processing and production center will be set up in the Samas coastal area as a follow-up of a salt-making trial conducted by the local coastal groups.

"In the past, a salt making trial was conducted in the Samas area, but the workers were later more interested in the tourism sector, so the trial was discontinued," Haryadi revealed.
