REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama Chairman (PBNU) Sulton Fatoni advised the government to convey a proper socialization to the plan of using Hajj fund for infrastructure investment.
According to Sulton, the idea was good. On the other hand, it must be backed with Islamic perspective argumentation. Therefore, it would not became a polemic and turmoil among Muslims.
"The government should wait and listen to the Nahdlatul Ulamas opinion. We will discuss Hajj fund optimization on national meeting of Nahdlatul Ulama and the Nahdlatul Ulama Great Confederation Forum at Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on November 2017 ," he said in Jakarta on Monday (July 31).

PBNU to further discuss process and purpose of Hajj fund optimisation. Sulton assessed the need for in-depth study on Hajj fund optimization, especially from the social, cultural and religious aspects. "It could be used to increase state revenues without harming the pilgrims," he said.
Sulton said PBNU welcomes the government plan to invest Hajj fund on strategic sectors. "The economic perspective of the government to create multiplier effect of investing Hajj fund is positive," he remarked.
