REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is also a state institution that deserve to be criticized. HNW said the evaluation is necessary to improve the performance of KPK.

“(It was needed) in order to maintain public trust in the indiscriminately eradicatation of corruption,” he said at Nusantara II Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 11).

HNW said the performance of anti-corruption agencies is considered to be slackening.

HNW pointed out the case of caught red-handed operation (OTT) conducted by KPK ony cases with small amount of money. It was not comparable with other cases KPK handled which has not been completed until now.

“State money loss cases that harm the country to hundreds of billions and trillions should also be a KPK commitment,” he explained.

Nevertheless, the Deputy Chairman of Syuro Council of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) affirmed that his party did not participate in the special committe's rights to inquiry of KPK.

PKS, he said, did not send its members to the special committe's right to inquiry because the judges did not run in accordance with the existing rules.

“PKS is not coming, we don’t go to the special committee, but we remind the special committee of the Parliament’s right to inquiry against KPK to really implement what has been publicly delivered from the beginning,” he said.
