REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of Indonesian House of Representatives Fadli Zon regretted President Joko Widodo brought his family and grandson in his visit to Turkey and Germany.  He said Jokowi should be wise in choosing the companion as regulated by the law.

Fadli said, based on the regulation, the president and his family indeed got protocol facilities. But, he said the president should be wise in sorting his private needs for family.

"Moreover, it was very obvious," he said in a press release on Friday (July 7).

Gerindra Politician regretted that it had been on public eye. It was a negative presedent.

"I remember former President Soeharto who was very powerful never brought his family in his visit, except for his private needs like medical treatment," said him.

Fadli said State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of State Apparature Empowerment and Beuracracy Reformation Asman Abnur needed to give an explanation on this. The precedent might not be a new model for the state officials.

"It must be asserted which might be conducted and which is not. This is not good for the reformation agenda in our beraucracy," he said.

Fadli said this was not the first time Jokowi brought his family in a state visit and led a controversy. He ever went to China, Myanmar and Australia on November 2014 with Kahiyang Ayu.

Kahiyang was an additional member in presidential entourage for APEC, ASEAN Summit and G20.

Jokowi was not the first Indonesian President to conduct his working visit with family. The sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono ever brought his sons Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) in a state visit in London, Britain.
