REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Commenting on the case of alleged hate speech and blasphemy involving President Joko Widodo's son, Deputy Chief of Jakarta Metro Police Suntana said there was a mechanism to stop an investigated case. 

So far, he believed the case has not meet any criminal element. "We will process the case in accordance with existing mechanism," Suntana said in Jakarta on Friday (July 7).

The president's son, Kaesang Pangarep, was reported to the Bekasi Metro Police by a citizen named Muhammad Hidayat. He was accused to spread hate speech through his Youtube video by calling group of people as "Ndeso" (hick, unintelligent).

Meanwhile, National Police Deputy Chief Syafruddin said there was no reason to not proceed the case.

"It is (video) only a joke. We need to be rational. National Police and the investigators must be rational. Not all case would be followed up. If we do not be rational, we will be tired. Following up food problems are more important," he said.  

Muhammad Hidayat filed his report at Bekasi Metro Police on Sunday (July 2) with Kaesang Pangarep as the reported person. It was registered No. LP/1049/K/VI/2017/Restro Bekasi City.

According to the police, Hidayat was known to file reports oftenly on many topics.  

The Spokesperson of National Police Rikwanto said there were 60 reports Hidayat made during 2017. "Between January to June, there are 60 reports," he said.
