REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Police said the interview of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)'s senior investigator Novel Baswedan to Time might have legal implication. If Novel could not prove his suspicion on the involvement of police general in the toxic chemical attack against him, he might be subjected to allegation of defamation.

The Spokesperson of Jakarta Metro Police Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said, Novel might hurt the image of police as he mentioned something unproven. Therefore, he should reveal the ground of his statement.

"If he (Novel) said so, please say who the general is? Then prove it,” said Argo on Sunday (June 18).

Argo regretted on Novel's statement to foreign media, saying that there was police general's involvement in the toxic liquid splashing incident. He said Novel should give the statement to the investigators.

"He, did not want us to examine, but talked to foreign media (Time). It would be better to talk to investigators, not to foreign media,” he said.

Argo said police would have deeper investigation on Novel's statements. Police would conduct an examination.

Previously, in an interview to Time, Novel said a police general might involve in the splashing toxic liquid incident two months ago. He revealed it as police had not found the assailants.
