REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinator of the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulema's Fatwa (GNPF MUI) cleric Bachtiar Nasir expressed his thought and feelings over law enforcement in Indonesia. He was invited to speak at the National Reflection during the National Figures Meeting at People's Consultative Assembly, on Tuesday (June 13).

In the brainstorming event, cleric Bachtiar said lately the struggle of Muslims is deliberately misunderstood. The clerics and activists were accused with many allegations, namely terrorism, treason, money laundering and pornography. He said the cases that linked to the the figures of 212 rally have caused an uproar in the society.

Cleric Bachtiar strongly belived the accusations are baseless. He said the inappropriate value system or law that has been unfair has been applied for so long, especially to the cases that involved the figures of 212 rally.

"The law was uphold based on the order of the ruler and it has been distructive, causing resistance," he said.

Cleric Bachtiar said the accusation to Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia related to building the Islamic caliphate emerged when it was only in a state of dreaming. After that, Muslims are accused to have become radicalized.

"I think it was all happened because of failure to understand or misunderstanding among the components of the nation," he said.

Cleric Bachtiar realized there were groups of Muslims who seemed radical in conveying Islam. But, he confirmed that those groups did not have any intention to coup. "It has never crossed their mind," he reiterated.

He also conveyed his concern over the use of term "Saya Pancasila" (I am Pancasila), as if the others are less devoted to the five pillars of the country. "Those who said "Saya Pancasila" might have problem with diversity," he said.

Furthermore, cleric Bachtiar convinced the Assembly that the grassroot did not want Indonesia to be divided. They are loyal to the Unitary State of Republic Indonesia. "Our movement is peaceful," he said.
