REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- IT expert Nonot Harsono said the origin server of baladacintarizieq.com is not the real issue. Jakarta Metro Police chief M Iriawan on Thursday said the server was based in the US and it brought difficulty to the investigation.

"First of all, the police should reveal whether the Whatsapp's chat was tapped from mobile phone or computer," Nonot reiterated.

If the police said the chat was originated from mobile phone, Nonot said it would be an insult for Whatsapp. He explained Whatsapp secured its user with end-to-end encryption which means Whatsapp and third parties can not read or listen to the messages and voice calls.

"If police said so then Whatsapp will be considered unable to keep the privacy of its users," Nonot said.

"The police have moral obligation to prove it," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id, on Thursday.

Nonot said information technology is an exact thing. No matter how hard it is, the step by step can be traced. "If it is a real chat then it can be traced," he remarked.

Nonot asked the police to be transparent to the society about the case. Therefore, the people will stop speculating and the rift among the society could be prevented.
