Former health minister returns gratification

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Former Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari had returned Rp1.35 billion from a total 1.9 billion of gratification to Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), said the general prosecutor in Jakarta on Wednesday (June 7).  

“On Tuesday (June 6), Mrs. Siti Fadilah returned money Rp1.35 billion to KPK bank account, the remaining Rp550 million would be returned after the conviction," said the prosecutor Ali Fikri.

In the second verdict of KPK's prosecutor, Siti Fadilah was said to received Rp1.9 billion of gratification for signing budget revision of the procurement of medical equipment I and let PT Graha Ismaya to be the distributor. 

The gratification was in the form of  20 sheets of Mandiri Traveller with a total Rp 500 million from Sri Rahayu Wahyuningsih as Institution Manager of PT. Indofarma, Tbk. 

Siti also received gratification from Rustam Syarifudin Pakaya as the Head of Risk Management Center (PPK) of Health Ministry from the President Director of PT. Graha Ismaya Masrizal for a total Rp1.4 billion in the form of MTC. 

It was proven by the decision of panel of judges in Central Jakarta Corruption Court No. 42/Pid.B/TPK/2012/PN.Jkt.Pst on November 27, 2012 for the name Rustam Syarifuddin Pakaya as former Head of Risk Management of Health Ministry. 

"The defendant (Siti Fadilah) returned back (the money) as mentioned in the decree of command of the conviction of Rustam Pakaya," Ali added. 

The conviction said that in procurement case of Medical Equipment I by PPK of Health Ministry in 2007, Siti Fadilah received Rp1.375 billion of MTC. And by the decision No. 8 letter a, it was instructed to take Rp1.375 billion from her to be return to state cashes. 

In the case, prosecutor charged Siti with six years of imprisonment subsidize with six months of detention and Rp1.9 billion subsidized a year of detention.  

It was based on the verdict of article 3 jo article 55 verse 1 of Criminal Code jo Law of Corruption Combat jo article 65 verse 1 of Criminal Code.  

In the pledoi, Siti Fadilah denied for doing corruption. "From the beginning of examination in Police Criminal Unit or KPK until today in the trial, I wanted to convey that I never did what prosecutor accused," she said.
