VP Kalla returns to Jakarta after concluding Japan visit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla concluded his work visit to Tokyo, Japan, and returned to Jakarta aboard a commercial flight from the Haneda International Airport.

Antara reported here on Tuesday that the vice president and his wife Mufidah had left the Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, at 10:30 a.m. local time.

Kalla will land at the Ultimate Terminal Three of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Banten Province, at 4:55 p.m. local time.

Kalla was on a visit to Tokyo on June 4-6, 2017, on the invitation of the Japanese media group Nikkei to be the keynote speaker during the 23rd International Conference on The Future of Asia on last Monday.

During the work visit, Kalla also made a courtesy call and held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Besides this, he also received leaders of the Sumitomo-Mitsui Banking Cooperation and was interviewed by the Nikkei Asian Review and Nikkei CNBC TV.

On the first day of the visit last Sunday, the vice president had visited the Indonesian Mosque in Meguro of Tokyo and conducted the Tarawih prayer and gave a religious lecture.

During his lecture, Kalla reiterated the importance of the mosque's existence to encourage prosperity of the surrounding community.

"The important matter is that the existence of the mosque should have a positive impact on the prosperity of its surrounding community. The mosque should serve as the center of talks to improve the entrepreneurship spirit. The mosque should become the center of health service and education," Kalla noted.
