REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian police food task force has arrested 10 people for allegedly causing the prices of foods and basic necessities at the Kramat Jati wholesale market in East Jakarta to increase last Friday (May 19).

"The police have taken legal measures against those causing a rise in the prices of foodstuffs from the upstream to downstream supply chains," Director of Special Economic Crimes of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department Brigadier General Agung Setya said here on Sunday.

The 11 people were found collecting illegal levies from the loading and uploading of goods at the wholesale market which caused traders to raise the prices of foodstuffs, he said.
