REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian government urged an international study on nuclear and chemical weapon disarmament, said the Indonesian Permanent Representative in Wina 2012-2017 Rahmat Budiman.

"There was imbalance in the implementation of non-proliferation treaty, so Indonesia urged the international forum to discuss nuclear disarmament,” said Rahmat in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 17).

According to Rahmat, Indonesia took an active role in encouraging regional and international revoke and ban of nuclear weapon. He said Indonesia refers to the Constitution in responding nuclear weapon issues. Indonesia is obliged to contribute to the realization of world order. Indonesia also implemented Law No. 8 in 1978 on the agreement of the prevention of nuclear weapon distribution.

It was realized within three pillar of nuclear resolution approach, namely disarmament, non-proliferation, and nuclear uses for peace.

"In implementing the pillars, Indonesia emphasized the need of developing the three pillars transparently and indiscriminatively,” said Rahmat.

He added that the country also encouraged the need of incentive given to the countries which had ratified the non-proliferation treaty.
