JAKARTA -- Political observer from Indonesian University Maswadi Rauf saw the police image as political tool to silence Muslims has been formed. He said it was showed in the dismissal of cleric Felix Siauw's preaching in Malang, East Java on Sunday (April 30).  

Maswadi regretted on the incident. He said it would harm the sense of justice for Muslims in Indonesia.

He said the police should realize it before their images as law enforcers become darker. "It should be avoided as police are vulnerabe to be used as political tools of the government," he said to Republika.co.id on Tuesday (May 5).

The professor of political science in Indonesian University argued that criminalization against ulema and the dismissal of Islamic preaching were a negative precedents. It should be avoided as bad images would be hard to be recovered.
