REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG – Police dismissed a preaching by Felix Siauw on Sunday (April 30) in Malang. Felix said the police did not explain the reason.

According to Felix, when he arrived at Malang on Saturday (April 29), he got information that the rector of Brawijaya University dismissed the event that should be held on April 30.

“We don’t know the reason as it was a preaching about noble love, guidance for teenagers for not doing immoral and futile actions,” said Felix.

The confused committee immediately looking for other venues to held the event. They chose a hotel in Malang.

The event was started on 08.00 a.m. Felix gave his preaching since 08.30 to 10.30 a.m. But, some people suddenly came to the hotel and said that the event should be dismissed. They said it did not hold any permits from the police. There had been 10-20 polices in the location.

The committee asked the police to close the preaching with a prayed led by Felix. But, police said it was not necessary and it was better that the event immediately dismissed.

Lately, Felix knew that the person talked to him is the head of intelligent unit in Malang Resort Police. Felix and the committee decided to dismiss the event.

A moment after the incident, information spread said that the event did not hold any permit. Malang City Police Chief Hoiruddin Hasibuan denied for giving statement related to it.

"Please call the Spokesperson of East Java Provincial Police Commissioner Barung, as it is the guidance from provincial police,” said him to Republika.co.id in a short message.

Chairman of Malang Regional Board of GP Ansor Nahdlatul Ulama Nur Junaedi Amin admitted the event was dismissed as there was cooperation between GP Ansor with Malang Provincial Police. He said both institutions decided to reject Felix Siauw preaching in Malang.

"We did a persuasive approach, PC GP Ansor Malang  cooperated with the police as they had the authority to dismiss the event,” said him to Republika.co.id on Monday (May 1).

He said the rejection to Felix was related to his status of being a Indonesian Hizbut Tahrir (HTI) cadre. He actively promoted the realization of caliphate in Indonesia.

“We could see how Felix Siauw actively promoted Islamic caliphate in Indonesia through social media. GP Ansor and other nationalist groups agree that HTI conducted coup plot as they wanted to change Pancasila as the state symbol and topple the existing government,” he said.

Felix was disappointed to the police way in dismissing the event. He said it gave a negative precedent to Indonesian future.
