State-owned companies reports Rp39 trillion in Q1 profit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- All state-owned enterprises (BUMN) reported a total profit of Rp39 trillion in the first quarter of 2017 or 19.8 percent of their total target of Rp197 trillion in the whole year. 

The assets of all the state-owned enterprises were valued at around 6,560 trillion by the end of the first quarter of the year, Secretary of the BUMN Ministry Imam Apriyanto Putro said here on Friday.

Imam said the capital expenditure of the state companies totaled Rp54 trillion in the first three months of the year with whole year's target of Rp468 trillion. 

BUMNs are expected to be able to compete well facing private companies, nationally, regionally and internationally and to contribute significantly to the state income in dividend and taxes, he said. 

As agents of development, BUMNs are to play big role in the economic development with participation in the implementation of various government programs such as infrastructure, maritime, energy and other projects, he said. 

The earning before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of state company in the first three months of 2017 totaled Rp92 trillion or an increase of 15 percent from the same period in 2016.

Imam said synergy between BUMNs is needed to reach their set by the government to improve efficiency to be able to compete in the region.
