Four fractions submit inquiry right

Four fractions of the House of Representatives (DPR) has submitted the draft of inquiry right due to the reactivation of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as Jakarta governor on Monday (Feb 13).

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Four fractions of the House of Representatives (DPR) submitted the draft of inquiry right due to the reactivation of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as Jakarta governor. The fractions were Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS), Democratic Party, Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), and the National Mandate Party (PAN). ''We were from the four fraction thought we needed to submit the inquiry associated with Ahok's reactivation as Jakarta governor," said the representative of Democratic Party Fandi Utomo while submitting the inquiry to the leaders of the House of Representatives in Central Jakarta on Monday. 

There were 22 people from Gerindra fraction signed the proposal. 42 people from Democratic Party, 10 people from PAN, and 16 people from PKS. ''We hoped the leaders of DPR would accept and followed it up to the next level," he said. 

A member of PAN fraction, Yandri Susanto, attended the submission of the inquiry. He said Ahok had done two fatal mistakes. Firstly, the post of Jakarta governor was handed over to Ahok on Saturday (Feb 11), during the campaign period. Secondly, he was activated when he was became a defendant. "Why did another regional head could be suspend while Ahok was not? This was an injustice of law. Therefore we agreed to submit the inquiry right. We believed there would be an explanation," said Yandri.
