REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hoped there will be no further mass action after the November 4th rally. He said such action is not necessary to be done following the legal proceeding of alleged religious blasphemy by Jakarta governor-inactive Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).
Previously, Jokowi has ordered the police to expose the result of investigations of the alleged case of religious blasphemy. He also told the police to conduct investigation in quick and transparent manner. On Monday (11/7), the police has summoned Ahok as witness. "I hope there will be no other demonstration as for the case has been processed by law," he said on Friday (11/11).
Meanwhile Vice President Jusuf Kalla believed the next Aksi Bela Islam III (the 3rd action to defend Islam) if it really happened, it will also be a peaceful act. According to him, the people must have learned from the previous acts."The demonstration probably will be held to greet or support whatever the police conclusion is regarding the alleged blasphemy," he said.
Kalla hoped the situation will be back to normal after the investigation ended.
Despite of the November 25th rally was still a discourse, Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said the demonstration has to be anticipated. "We have to be prepared to secure the rally because it's people's right," he assured.
