REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Islamic organization Muhammadiyah believed communism is still a threat in Indonesia.

Muhammadiyah Secretary General, Abdul Mukti said communism still threatening state ideology Pancasila and also as basis.

''At the symbolic level, a commemoration of G30S/PKI and Pancasila is still important to raise the collective awareness of the Indonesian nation related the threat of state sovereignty,'' Abdul said to Republika, Saturday (10/1).

Abdul affirmed G30S/ PKI issue is not the hostility among Muslims and PKI. Gerakan 30 September (G30S) dubbed as September 30 Movement was the attempt of PKI (Indonesia Communist Party) to coup d'état and replaced the Pancasila ideology with communism.

"If communism is antireligious, it means this doctrine not only anti-Islamic, but also reject all religions so both the government and people should unite to save Pancasila," he said.

However, Abdul added, more important thing is how to implement and realize the real Pancasila. Particularly minimize economic disparities or wealth gap.

Economic disparities have great potential to divide the unity of the nation. Pancasila revitalizaton as effort deal witheconomic disparities.

In addition, the government and the people should increase faith and piety in daily life. "If the sovereignty can be reached and law is enforced, people are not easily divided," Abdul said.
