REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN – Having a dad as a lawyer, Medan church attack suspect, IAH, recieved attention from his dad colleagues. At least 30 lawyers from Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) has signed to assist him.
"We have 30 lawyers from Medan Peradi to assist IAH legal case," said Chairman of the Legal Assistance Centre of Medan Peradi, Rizal Sihombing, at Medan Peradi office, Thursday (1/9).
Rizal said IAH's family, especially his father, asked him to assist IAH. Since receiving the mandate on August 31, more than 30 lawyers agreed to help. They have studied the case.
Rizal said Peradi Medan willing help for solidarity. They felt the IAH's parents suffer, Makmur Hasugian and Arista Purba. Moreover, Makmur is a fellow advocate.
"Hasugian is our colleagues. We feel his pain so we involve ourselves with his son case," he said.
IAH is detained at the Stasi Santo Yosep Catholic church, Jl Dr Mansyur, Medan, during Sunday (28/8) service. The youngster who will have his 18's birthday on the next October was caught while attacking the priest with a knife. He was allegedly wanted to detonate his homemade bombs.
"We demand IAH is processed under the Child Protection law," Rizal said.
The police said IAH was inspired by other terror attack that he saw on the internet. He learned to make bomb also from the internet. The identity of mastermind behind his act is not known yet.
